Wrestling Promoter Jim Crockett Jr. passes away at 76 years old

Note: This article was originally published on Blade Job Pro Wrestling

On March 3, 2021, Jim Crockett Jr. passed away from kidney and lung failure. World Wrestling Entertainment announced the passing of Crockett Jr. on Thursday, March 4.

After the passing of his father, Jim Crockett Sr., Crockett Jr. apprehensively took control of Crockett Promotions (having never been a part of the promoting scene prior to his father's death.)

In the article posted on WWE.com, Crockett was referred to as:

"An influential promoter who helped champion the careers of WWE Hall of Famers such as Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat and The Road Warriors, Crockett Jr. stewarded the family’s Crockett Promotions from 1977 to 1989. As part of the promotion’s affiliation, Crockett Jr. was later named President of the National Wrestling Alliance in 1980. During his tenure, Crockett Jr. helped expand the promotion’s footprint and held the inaugural Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Cup at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. Under Crockett Jr.’s leadership, the NWA would eventually be sold and renamed as World Championship Wrestling." -WWE.com Staff

Prior to his passing, Crockett Jr. was reported as being in "grave condition" by Wrestling Observer Radio's Dave Meltzer. The news first broke on professional wrestling legend Robert Gibson's Facebook page, where he posted:

"Rest in peace, Jim Crockett, Jr. You will be missed by so many." -Robert Gibson

Crockett, Jr. will be remembered as a professional wrestling legend. The three-term National Wrestling Alliance President may not have launched Jim Crockett Promotions into the stratosphere, but he put it in a great position to be purchased by none other than WCW's own Ted Turner. Many WCW legends consider Jim Crockett, Jr. integral to launching their individual careers. For that, Crockett, Jr. has created a legacy that will never be forgotten.

We hear at Blade Job Pro Wrestling extend our condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Jim Crockett, Jr.
