Brodie Lee Jr., the 8-year-old son of Jon Huber, signs to All Elite Wrestling

After everything 2020 was, this is the news we needed to close out the year.

According to Tony Schiavone, after the passing of the beloved Jon Huber, All Elite Wrestling has signed the son of Mr. Brodie Lee himself, Brodie Lee Jr. Dubbed "-1" on AEW Dynamite, this eight-year contract is set to eventually allow Brodie Lee Jr. to debut in an AEW ring at the age of sixteen years old.

Brodie Lee Jr. is the oldest son of AEW wrestler Brodie Lee. Huber passed away on December 26, 2020, at the age of 41 years old from a "non-COVID-19 related lung issue." According to Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Radio, Huber entered the hospital back in late October and had remained there ever since.

The quote from Tony Schiavone, from his What Happened When podcast, regarding this announcement, is as follows:

"Knowing that Brodie was very sick and knowing it was holiday time, and I guess knowing that for him to kick out, it was going to be, I don't want to say a miracle, but it was going to be very difficult to kick out. They had brought little Brodie to TV and wrestling is his life. He is 8 years old. He really is a great kid. They made him a member of The Dark Order." They put a mask on him. He came out with a kendo stick. He beat up a lot of people. This of course was at a TV taping with nobody in the audience. They signed him to a contract. They legitimately signed him to a contract and when he gets of age, he will be with AEW. They have taken care of him and he follows guys around all the time in the back and he becomes a part of us."

If this reminds us anything, it's that there is still good in the wrestling industry... even if it keeps getting harder and harder to find. Social media has been filled with stories and recounting of Huber's love for his family. It's an incredible class act on behalf of All Elite Wrestling to continue to take care of Huber's family in this fashion. I'm excited to see the eventual debut of Mr. Brodie Lee Jr. in AEW.
