As first reported by Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Randal Barry Orton has passed away at 62 years old. Orton was the son of professional wrestler Bob Orton Sr., brother to Bob Orton Jr., and uncle Randy Orton.
Barry Orton made his professional wrestling debut in 1976. His earliest documented match took place in a loss against Dave Nevins at a Central State Wrestling event in June 1977. Throughout his career, Barry Orton wrestled for NWA, ICW, and WOW (even winning the WOW World Heavyweight Championship.) Orton is best known for his runs in the WWF where he primarily worked as enhancement talent.
In 1992, Orton retired from wrestling after making allegations of sexual assault towards other professional wrestlers. Barry would earn major backstage heat after going on multiple talk shows to discuss these incidents, serving as an exposé for the wrestling industry at the time. Barry Orton's last match would take place in 2011 at a PWG show where he took part in a Legend's battle royal (which would be won by Roddy Piper.) Orton's cause of death has not been announced.
